Kris Castle in Transylvania. This wonderful old place belonged to the Hungarian princely Bethlen family of the Austro - Hungarian Empire and has recently been reclaimed by them. It is not open to the public but the caretaker let us in and we wandered around for an hour.

This is the only spiral staircase I have seen made entirely of wood. It is inside Kris Castle in Transylvania and is from the Middle Ages.

The village of Richis near Biertan in Transylvania has many beautiful faded old houses with surprising emblems stamped upon them in the plaster like this one. This sunburst looks like a Masonic symbol or something from an ancient Egyptian Temple...
