This is a typical Transylvanian farmhouse seen from the walls of the Church at Biertan. The grass, which has been cut by hand with a scythe is piled into a conical stack draped over a wooden frame in the little meadow.
This is the tower of Biertan’s Saxon fortified Church in Transylvania. The wooden viewing platform was used to look out for enemy invaders and all the villagers would take their precious possessions up to the Church and remain safe behind the wall.
